WHAT I’M BUILDING

Behind the Scenes

Twenty-six videos in three months. I saw that number this week and it stopped me, because it is nowhere near the account I think I am running.

I was in Barcelona at the start of the week, closing out the last two days of holiday before flying to Cyprus. The rest was good and I needed it, but I could feel that it had run out. Since I landed I have been working from 8 in the morning to 11 at night, and the only break is the gym at midday.

The fix is a challenge I have already started. One video a day for the next month, with the quality going up rather than down. I know how that sounds given the number above, so I have brought in a new agency to edit at scale, and I am testing new formats where I talk more openly about the founder journey instead of only showing tools.

The other half of the week went to Limora. We launched our MCP, so you can now generate on-brand images straight inside Claude and have it drop them into your designs. The new landing page also lands at the end of next week. Can’t wait to ship it!

BIG NEWS

Figma Shipped a Vector Eraser, and It Beats Every AI Update This Month

The most useful thing Figma shipped this month has nothing to do with AI.

On August 24 Figma added two things to vector editing. You can now erase vector paths directly on the canvas to clean up stray marks or reshape existing artwork, and you can pick a colour or gradient and drag across multiple regions to fill or recolour them in one pass. Press Shift+E to switch to the eraser in vector edit mode or in Draw. It works in both Figma Design and Figma Draw.

My Take

Figma has spent this whole year shipping agents, skills and MCP servers, and most of it has been genuinely useful. But the thing designers kept asking for on the forum was an eraser. This is the update you will actually touch every day, and that matters more than another model in a side panel.

Here's the thing about AI and vector work. A model will happily generate you a hundred icons, and the last five percent is still hand work. Until this week that hand work in Figma meant boolean gymnastics or bouncing out to Illustrator and back. That round trip is now gone. The tools that win are the ones that close the gap between what the AI gives you and what you actually ship, and this is a small update that does exactly that.

How to use it

Take your next icon set and stay inside Figma the whole way through. Generate or import your base shapes, hit Shift+E to clean up the stray paths, then drag a colour across the regions to build out your hover and active states in one pass. Full release notes here.

TOOL OF THE WEEK

Limora MCP

You generate an image in one tool, download it, drag it into your design, and then realise the colours are off and the whole thing looks nothing like the brand. So you go back and start again. That loop is the reason most designers give up on AI images for client work.

We just shipped the Limora MCP, and it removes the loop entirely. Your brand kit already holds your logo, your colours, your fonts and your visual direction. The MCP connects that straight into Claude, so you can ask for an asset in plain language and Claude generates it through Limora, on-brand, and places it into your design for you. You never leave the conversation and you never download a file.

How to use it

  • Hero backgrounds mid-build. You're working on a landing page in Claude and you need a background that matches the brand. Ask for it and it appears, already on-brand, without opening a second tab.

  • Icon and illustration sets. Ask for the full set in one go and every piece comes out sharing the same colors and direction, which is the part that normally takes the longest to get right by hand.

  • Client work at speed. Load the client's brand once, then generate every asset for the project through Claude. The output is consistent from the first asset to the last.

TUTORIAL OF THE WEEK

How to Build a Hero Section That Doesn't Look AI-Generated

Instagram post

Your hero section carries most of your website's first impression, and most AI-generated ones give themselves away instantly. Here's the three-step workflow I use to build one that looks like it belongs to the brand.

Step 1: Pull your brand kit automatically

  • Go to Limora AI and paste your site URL

  • It pulls your colors, fonts and logo into a brand kit on its own

  • Check the palette before you move on, since everything downstream inherits it

Step 2: Generate the hero, then put it in motion

  • Open Generate and select hero image, then describe the one you want

  • Upload two or three reference images to steer the look

  • When you like the result, hit Image to Motion and pick Parallax to animate it

Step 3: Let Claude Code rebuild the section

  • Drop the finished asset into Claude Code

  • Ask it to rebuild your hero section around the asset, on-brand

  • Compare it against the original before you ship it
